What we need
Symbotic is seeking a Cell Operator; you will be responsible for system upkeep and operations of automated adapters used to interface with the Symbotic structure. You will also assist with system readiness to achieve performance targets as defined by leadership and utilize Human/Machine Interface terminals to effectively operate equipment.
What you’ll do- Perform pre‑production checks on automated adapters to ensure equipment is in “ready to run” state.
- Process and monitor the flow of the automated storage and retrieval system—including manual inbound, automatic inbound, and automatic outbound—to achieve maximum throughput and cases per hour.
- Prepare pallets for induction into the Symbotic storage and retrieval system.
- Assess causes of system stoppage and return equipment to service using Human/Machine Interface (HMI) and manual intervention.
- Communicate and elevate all issues impacting production immediately to operational leadership.
- Contribute to overall system uptime through system preservation, robot recovery, suspect removal, and bot health actions.
- Perform periodic system inspections—including cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checking, and component validation.
- Report all out‑of‑spec conditions, perform root‑cause corrective action, and maintain continuous operation of system components.
- Monitor and utilize common radio etiquette while receiving instructions from leadership and operational leads.
- Perform rover bot upkeep, including but not limited to replacing wheels, cleaning, ESD brushes, sensors, etc.
- Recover automated robotic vehicles in the Symbotic Matrix select system, working in restrictive environments.
- Complete other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Associate degree or equivalent experience or certification in electronics, automotive, automation, manufacturing, or a related field (preferred).
- At least 1 year of experience with mechanical automation systems, or equivalent educational or training background.
- Proficiency in performing all system inspection functions—including cleaning, lubrication, tolerance checking, current measurements, and electrical system checks.
- Ability to prioritize work to maximize uptime and throughput from an automated cell.
- Commitment to work safely and a demonstrated ability to work safely.
- Ability to work independently of supervision while following procedures and manuals.
- Ability to multi‑task and perform multiple job functions at once.
- Steep stairs to climb into the structure.
- Regular exposure to railings high off the ground.
- Work in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
- If the site is under construction, proper PPE (hard hat, safety vest, steel toes, eye protection, ear protection, fall protection) is required.
- Frequent lifting of items weighing up to 50 lbs and moving items up to 80 lbs.
- Stand or walk for up to 10–12 hours; frequent need to reach, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Routine work at heights up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches; ability to balance, stoop, push, pull, grip, climb, or crawl as needed.
- Compliance with all safety requirements, including lock‑out/tag‑out and fall protection protocols.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $24.00–$26.00 per hour; compensation may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401(k), PTO, and/or other benefits.
