This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Taylor Correctional Institution in the Education department. This position is for an Adult Basic Education/GED® Instructor responsible for delivery of instruction in Math/Science, Reading‑Language Arts and Social Studies through a blended instructional model.

The mission of the Bureau of Education at the Florida Department of Corrections is to provide comprehensive educational programs and services to inmates. This position is not a telework position; it requires reporting to the FDC office in the area it serves.

• Plan, develop, and conduct classes in assigned subjects, utilizing various teaching techniques to assist student advancement.
• Supervise inmates in the class, conduct roll calls, counts, and maintain attendance records.
• Ensure order and discipline in the classroom, continually evaluate student progress, and administer grades and tests.
• Counsel and advise individuals on program progress, behavior, or personal concerns.
• Participate in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops for curriculum changes and professional development, and assist in budget preparation and purchase requests for the education program.

• Applicants in possession of a master’s degree (official transcripts) may be eligible for an additional $1,499.94 annually.
• Possession of a temporary or professional teaching certificate may be eligible for a one‑time $1,000 hiring bonus.

• Non‑certified applicants must obtain a temporary State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire; the State of Florida Educator’s Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to the expiration of the temporary certificate.
