This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position located at Taylor Correctional Institution. It is not a telework position and requires reporting to the FDC office in the area it serves.
The Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is seeking a versatile and dedicated human resource professional to serve as the Human Resource Consultant at Taylor Correctional Institution.
Compensation Range: $56,984.72 - $62,682.88
POSITION OVERVIEWAs the Human Resource Consultant, you will be the primary contact for all human resources (HR) matters at your assigned Institution and act as a liaison between the Institution and Central Office.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Recruitment and OnboardingServe as the primary point of contact for institutional recruitment and selection efforts, collaborating with the Office of Human Resources (OHR) Recruitment team and Institutional Recruiters. Oversee pre‑employment processes, including fingerprinting, drug testing, and physical examinations, ensuring compliance with all requirements. Lead the employee onboarding process by conducting new employee orientations, ensuring the completion of all required documentation, and submitting records to OHR‑Active Employee Records.
HRSystems and Payroll Processing
Manage and monitor employee data in the People First and Kronos timekeeping systems to ensure compliance with wage and hour regulations. Oversee the completion of electronic Personnel Action Requests (PAR) in the People First system and monitor pay additives and deductions. Assist employees with entering direct deposit information and maintain compliance with related policies. Manage the separation process for employees, ensuring all associated procedures, documentation, and compliance requirements are completed efficiently.
Employeeand Labor Relations
Act as the initial point of contact for employee relations and labor relations matters, serving as a liaison between the institution and Central Office Employee Relations and Labor Relations teams. Provide guidance to managers and supervisors on performance management and oversee corrective and disciplinary actions. Function as the institutional intake officer for employee complaints and ensure proper documentation and resolution.
FMLA and Workers’ Compensation AdministrationAdminister the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) process and serve as the primary point of contact for Workers’ Compensation matters. Track and manage these programs to ensure compliance and accuracy while supporting employee well‑being.
Compliance and ReportingCoordinate monthly driver’s license checks, update records in the People First system, and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements. Track and manage vacancy data, position numbers for new hires, and internal reassignments to support operational efficiency. Ensure monthly reporting requirements are met.

- Currently, beginning July 1, 2024, there is no longer a reemployment limitation; beginning with the 7th calendar month from the member's distribution date, there are no restrictions on working for an FRS employer. Members will not be required to repay any prior distributions, and they may continue receiving distributions from the Investment Plan or Pension Plan without interruption.

- A high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Six (6) years of experience in performing and/or managing human resources/personnel.
