Job SummaryThe Steel Fabrication Operator reports directly to the Steel Fabrication Supervisor and is responsible for achieving immediate and short‑term production objectives. This role requires near‑perfect attendance and punctuality, and potential overtime to meet production needs.
Classification and Supervision- Supervisory Responsibilities:

- Ensure all parts are produced on time and are of good quality.
- Read and verify complex sketches prior to producing parts; check pieces in process against sketches.
- Verify the tube size matches the sketch before running.
- Measure and accurately mark tubing for production.
- Accurately count the number of pieces run.
- Minimize material waste.
- Responsible for care and preventive maintenance of equipment in use.
- Follow all safety guidelines and report violations, accidents, and near misses to supervisor.
- Assist in training new personnel on safety, production, and quality standards and procedures.
- Follow instructions given by supervisor.
- Responsible for housekeeping in your area and the entire facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Team player.
- Time‑management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Ability to operate a forklift and obtain certification within three months (on‑the‑job training provided).
- Basic understanding of hand tools and how to properly use them.
- Ability to read a tape measure to the 1/16".
- Proficient in math, both decimal and inch calculations.
- Ability to follow company safety procedures and processes.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- One year work history or military service with honorable discharge preferred.
- Must be able to accurately exchange information with co‑workers and management.
- Heavy lifting (50 lbs) is required on a regular basis.
- Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials.
- Ability to remain at workstation for long periods of time while using tools and machinery and performing repetitive actions.
- Manual dexterity to evaluate, modify and operate machinery and equipment.
- Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
- Temperature of work environment ranges from 15 - 110°F.
- Normal work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am – 5:00 pm. Hours subject to change at the discretion of management. Overtime is required, as needed to support production goals.
