This is a seasonal, temporary, call-in position during times when active mosquito spraying is necessary (May through October). Duties may include conducting mosquito surveillance, operation of insecticide disbursing equipment, and operation of a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned responsibilities. Duty hours may vary and may include early mornings and/or evenings, as well as normal daytime or night time hours.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Current, valid Florida Driver's License.
- Operation of insecticide disbursing equipment in accordance with manufacturer s recommendations and in conformance with State Bureau of Entomology Guidelines and Rules.
- Operation of a motor vehicle equipped for the disbursement of insecticides.
- Performance of preventative maintenance on ULV equipment and motor vehicles.
- Assuring proper handling, storage, disbursement, and clean up of chemical insecticides and related components in accordance with Federal and State guidelines.
- Maintaining work areas in neat, orderly, and safe manner.
- Proper storage and safeguarding of all equipment, tools, chemicals, and assigned vehicles.
- Completion of daily reports on the operation of motor vehicles, disbursing equipment, and chemical usage.
- Conducting mosquito population density surveys from field observation and by operating various trapping methods, such as light traps, suction traps, truck traps, CDC traps, oviposition cups, resting boxes, and emergence traps to determine if specific methods are appropriate under established Bureau of Entomology requirements.
- Reporting and/or responding to accidents, unusual incidents, or public complaints as soon as feasibly possible.
- Washing and neutralization of insecticide residue on vehicles and equipment.
- Practice and enforce safety procedures and guidelines.
- Performance of other job related duties as assigned.
