The PSM (Process Safety Management) Coordinator position is a very fluid onsite role that is responsible primarily for MOC (Management of Change) support including driving and leading MOC’s from initiation to closure, supporting project PSM assurance processes, and supporting PSM performance across projects and operating process units across the plant.
Responsibilities- Manage facilities PSM and RMP programs, ensuring refrigeration system, PSM/RMP program and documentation are in compliance with EPA, OSHA and IIAR guidelines.
- Provide direction to ammonia tech’s and support plants in developing and sustaining facility-specific policies, procedures, programs, and training.
- Ensure attendance & participation in monthly meetings and audits with designated refrigeration personnel, ERS (APSM), Safety Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Plant Manager, and Safety Director.
- Manage corporate programs that drive consistency and align with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain knowledge of PSM (14 elements), RMP, and applicable rules; deliver technical PSM training as needed.
- Ensure operating procedures are written on all ammonia equipment and are maintained current and accurate and updated as often as necessary and certified annually.
- Coordinate with Safety Manager on ammonia best practices and awareness across the plant and facilitate continuous improvement
- Ensure Refrigeration Operators are trained, and training is documented according to the Training Element and site-specific Training Total Curriculum.
- Coordinate and participate in management of change (MOC), pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR), and process hazard analysis (PHA) activities.
- Assist in creating, updating, and training on operating procedures; maintain the training matrix for compliance.
- Ensure contractor compliance with OSHA 1910-.119 regulations by evaluating contractors’ safety program, verifying contractor employee training (initially and annually), and enforcing site specific procedures.
- Promote a process safety culture and drive improvements in PSM/RMP programs.
- Support OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory audits of refrigeration systems.
- Coordinate data collection, reporting, and tracking of process safety key performance indicators.
- Provide technical direction for refrigeration and cooling projects, prioritizing programs to meet compliance, risk analysis, and corporate policies.
- Manage electronic documentation using electronic PSM management tools (APSM).
- Perform other duties as assigned and report any environmental or safety incidents in accordance with company protocols.
- Provide input to site PSM practices (OSHA based)
- Able to inform, train and track proper training for site staff on process plant changes.
