Summary
This position is responsible for managing converting processes to include safety, training, process improvement, and implementation of quality initiatives.
JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Establish department goals and expectations that support plant goals for safety, quality, productivity, employee development and waste. Communicate performance against goals on a regular basis.
- Sets the example for safety awareness and initiative in area.
- Responsible for managing the department and ensuring machines are running efficiently to budget, producing quality cartons that meet or exceed customer specifications and expectations.
- Identifies cost reduction and continuous improvement opportunities in support of Six Sigma efforts.
- Manages department efforts across shifts and with other departments and functions.
- Works with Production Supervisors to ensure strong communication within the department on expectations and performance.
- Ensures production operations are conducted in a safe and clean working environment and complies with federal, state and local laws and regulations.
- Identifies activities and opportunities that improve the manufacturing processes and controls costs throughout the department.
- Additional duties as assigned
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- General knowledge of converting technologies is required.
- Excellent technical trouble shooting skills.
- Good organization/project management skills.
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 5 years or more of experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 3 years supervisory experience required
