Job Description

The Supervisor Production directs and coordinates activities concerned with all production operations by performing duties personally or through subordinates. The Production Supervisor provides leadership and direction to Production Operators and ensures staffing and production schedules are adhered to. Responsibilities include completing documentation and carrying out duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, following GMPs, HACCP training, prerequisite programs, SOPs, USDA guidelines, and SSOPs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safety

  • Perform all duties within OSHA and company safety standards; LOTO, wear PPE and maintain safety equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Immediately report all incidents and deficiencies to management; complete incident investigations.
  • Ensure safety devices are installed and working properly.
  • Monitor the work environment for general food safety hazards such as condensation monitoring, etc.

Leadership

  • Communicate for the team; coordinate activities between departments with QA as needed.
  • Collaborate with appropriate personnel to ensure standards are met.

Personnel

  • Follow GMPs, HACCP training, prerequisite programs, SOPs, and SSOPs; enforce safety and company policies.
  • Ensure proper staffing, including interviewing and hiring new team members.
  • Implement and monitor training for new hires and ongoing training for current team members.
  • Maintain attendance records; counsel team members with poor attendance and apply coaching/discipline as appropriate.
  • Appraise work performance and conduct reviews; provide coaching/discipline as needed.
  • Review, correct, and approve timekeeping to ensure accurate pay.

General

  • Coordinate and perform functions related to operations of the assigned area, procedures, and specifications.
  • Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Implement and record Smokehouse preventive maintenance; understand cook yields and work standards for the Smokehouse; monitor and analyze yields and standards.
