Job Description
Supervisor, Sanitation responsible for supervising and coordinating the cleaning and sanitizing activities of the manufacturing facility in accordance with FSQ guidelines. Provides leadership to the Sanitation Team; ensures staffing, scheduling, and documentation compliance, and enforces GMP, HACCP, SOP, USDA, and SSOP requirements.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area; enforce OSHA and company safety standards.
- Direct, train, and develop Sanitation Specialists, manage staffing, interview and hire new team members.
- Validate daily production paperwork, process monitors, and run logs accurately.
- Modify SSOPs with cross‑functional input to improve quality and efficiency.
- Supervise cleaning of equipment, work areas, and facilities (e.g., overheads, units, pipes, lights, smokehouse, warehouse, squeegee floors, drains).
- Analyze and resolve problems, assist team members in troubleshooting.
- Ensure cleaning requirements are met to enable pre‑operation inspection and timely production setup.
- Inspect facility and equipment for conformity to HACCP, USDA, and SSOP policies.
- Perform pre‑operation swab testing; adjust cleaning procedures and schedules based on results.
- Collaborate daily with pre‑operation inspectors to resolve sanitation deficiencies immediately.
- Investigate sanitation issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with maintenance regarding equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to enhance sanitation standards.
- Maintain sanitation records, including chemical usage, cost, task completion calendar, inventory, water usage, and duct sock changes.
- Respond to USDA non‑compliance records; establish procedures to prevent recurrence.
- Communicate effectively with peers, subordinates, and leaders; keep management informed of shift issues.
- Continuously suggest and implement improvements to support activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of manufacturing experience.
- Preferred: 2+ years of supervisory experience in the food industry with chemical/sanitation exposure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and internet navigation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of working with all management levels.
- Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving, presentation, and employee motivation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, SOP, SSOP, USDA guidelines, and general business documents.
- Understanding of safe handling of chemicals and sanitation procedures.
Annual salary range: $52,965 – $72,827. Total rewards include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) participation, paid holidays, and paid time off.
Physical Demands & Work EnvironmentPhysical demands: wear PPE, stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds infrequently. Work environment includes wet, slippery floors, temperature variations averaging 40°F in production areas, exposure to raw and cooked meat, and moving equipment. Requires adherence to all food safety and quality requirements.
