Substitute teachers for the school year are used on an as needed basis. Substitutes must hold a current Ohio teaching license or Ohio substitute license.
Rate of pay: $120 - $130 per day based on degree.
Job ObjectivesCarries out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plan. During a prolonged absence as defined by board policy, the substitute is responsible for performing all essential functions identified in the absent teacher's job description.
Essential Functions- Valid Ohio teaching or substitute license or certificate in the appropriate licensure area.
- Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCI and FBI.
- Self‑directed and able to learn quickly.
- Professional tact, diplomacy, and presentation.
- Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
- Good health, high moral character, and good attendance record.
- Demonstrates enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students.
- Demonstrates professionalism and contributes to a positive work environment.
- Organizes tasks and manages time effectively.
- Skillfully manages individual, group, and organizational interactions.
- Effectively uses verbal, non‑verbal, writing, and listening skills.
- Averts problem situations and intervenes to solve conflicts.
- Ability to work with others, solve problems, and work as part of a team.
- Exhibits consistency, resourcefulness, and resilience.
- Exercises self‑control and perseverance when dealing with students.
- Maintains a good attendance record and is punctual.
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Duties may entail occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- Duties may require traveling to various buildings throughout the district.
- Duties may require occasional interaction among unruly children.
- Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, lifting, carrying, and moving work‑related supplies/equipment.
- Duties may require prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor.
- Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Duties may require operating and/or riding in a vehicle.
- Potential for exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non‑prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout employment in the District.
