POSITION:
Preschool Intervention Specialist (Itinerant), Rossford Elementary School

Rossford Schools is seeking a dedicated and student‑centered Preschool Intervention Specialist (Itinerant) for the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will provide specially designed instruction and consultation services to support preschool‑aged children with disabilities across early childhood settings. This role requires strong collaboration with staff and families, a commitment to inclusive practices, and attention to preschool program requirements including Step Up To Quality and applicable preschool licensing rules.

Position Overview

The Preschool Intervention Specialist (Itinerant) serves as a special education provider for preschool students, delivering services outlined in IEPs through a combination of direct instruction, co‑teaching/inclusion support, and consultation. The intervention specialist collaborates with early childhood staff to ensure compliance with special education requirements and preschool program standards, supports developmentally appropriate practices, and monitors student progress toward goals.

Qualifications
  • Valid and appropriate Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Intervention Specialist licensure, including a preschool endorsement as required for assignment
  • Strong organization, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to the district vision of preparing, inspiring, and empowering all students to achieve success
  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs for preschool‑aged students
  • Knowledge of Ohio's Extended Learning Standards (OLS‑E), inclusion, and adapting curriculum in collaboration with classroom teachers
  • Familiarity with preschool program requirements, including early learning standards and licensing expectations, and supporting practices aligned to Step Up To Quality
  • Working knowledge of FBAs/BIPs and behavior supports for young learners
  • Ability to meet required preschool compliance expectations, including completion of mandatory trainings and documentation as required by Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and district procedures
Responsibilities

Instructional Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement developmentally appropriate instruction aligned to IEP goals and student needs
  • Provide direct and consultative services in inclusive and small‑group/pull‑out settings as determined by IEPs
  • Monitor progress toward IEP goals, maintain service documentation, and use data to adjust instruction

Collaboration and Program Support

  • Collaborate with preschool staff and related service providers to support inclusive practices and classroom routines
  • Partner with families to support student growth and participate in IEP meetings and reviews
  • Support preschool program compliance by following procedures aligned with Step Up to Quality expectations and applicable licensing requirements

Behavior and Student Support

  • Support positive behavior strategies and early childhood behavior systems
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans, as appropriate, and coach staff on implementation

Professional and Legal Compliance

  • Maintain accurate records and confidentiality in accordance with federal and state special education requirements
  • Participate in required trainings, professional learning, and meetings; complete documentation within established timelines

    Fulfill responsibilities as outlined in applicable job description(s), including other duties as assigned by the Principal, Director of Student Services, or Superintendent
