Long term substitute teacher needed for High School French Teacher - Starting in September for up to 12 weeks General Substitute License through the Ohio Department of Education required but would prefer P-12 French Rate of Pay $ 120.00/130.00 per day

Job Objectives

Carries out the absent teacher's prepared lesson plan. During a prolonged absence as defined by board policy, the substitute is responsible for performing all essential functions identified in the absent teacher's job description.

Essential Functions

Follows teacher's written lesson plans. Consults with the principal and/or staff to resolve questions and concerns.

Teaches scheduled classes. Prepares a written summary of work completed. Makes theabsent teacher aware of special situations or problems encountered.

Implements effective pupil management procedures. Maintains high standards and upholdsstudent conduct code.

Develops and maintains a positive learning environment. Stimulates student interest.

Varies instructional techniques to address individual learning styles.

Provides guidance, communicates high expectations, and shows and active interest instudent groups. Facilitates critical thinking, problem solving, and creativity skills.

Works cooperatively with other teachers.

Incorporates effective use of available technology in records management and instructional activities. Upholds district technology acceptable use policy.

Maintains accurate records and submits reports on time.

Takes the initiative to perform routine tasks independently.

Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.

Understands and uses district crisis plan protocol to respond to emergencies.

Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged information.

Participates in staff meetings and professional growth opportunities as directed.

Watch for student behavior that may indicate a problem (e.g. profanity, teasing, bullying,distress, etc. ) Intervene and or report concerns to the administrator.

Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.

Accepts responsibility for decisions and conduct.

Wears appropriate work attire and maintains a neat appearance.

Conduct other duties related to the Substitute Teacher position as assigned by the Principal.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Ohio teaching or substitute license or certificate in appropriate licensure area
Documentation of a clear criminal record with evidence from BCI and FBI
Self-directed and able to learn quickly
Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation
Conscientious and assumes responsibility for own work performance.
Good health, high moral character and good attendance record.
Demonstrate enthusiasm and a sincere desire to aid all students

Additional Working Conditions

Duties may entail occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.
Duties may require traveling to various buildings throughout the district.
Duties may require occasional interaction among unruly children.
Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, standing, lifting, carrying and moving work related supplies/equipment.
Duties may require prolonged use of a computer keyboard and monitor.
Duties may require working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
Duties may require operating and or riding in a vehicle.
Potential for exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the District.
