Grinder – Lako division, Pro Mach
Job OverviewPro Mach is hiring a Grinder to support our Lako division. In this hands‑on role, you will set up and operate CNC and manual grinding machines. You will work with downloaded programs and adjust them to ensure accurate, high‑quality parts.
Responsibilities- Set up and operate CNC and manual grinders, including Chevalier, Kent, Jones & Shipman and Blohm machines, to perform surface and cylindrical grinding.
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to ensure accurate part production.
- Inspect and measure parts using precision instruments (micrometers, indicators, comparators, etc.) to ensure parts meet specifications.
- Perform routine machine maintenance and minor troubleshooting to maintain equipment functionality.
- Optimize grinding operations for efficiency, tool life, and part quality.
- Work with tight tolerances, often within ±0.0005”.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and other production staff to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to all safety and quality protocols.
- Document work as required, including job travelers, inspection reports, and production logs.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of apprentices or junior machinists, as needed.
- High School Diploma
- 2+ years of grinding experience, preferably in a job shop or precision manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in operating Chevalier, Kent, Jones & Shipman, Blohm and other flat or cylindrical grinders.
- Strong understanding of grinding speeds, feeds, wheel selection, and coolant usage.
- Familiarity with various materials including tool steels, stainless steels, and hardened alloys.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
$24.00 - $30.00 per hour
