Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to partner with our Director of Nursing in leading a dedicated care team and ensuring exceptional nursing services for our residents—24/7. This role is ideal for a nursing leader who thrives in collaboration, values resident dignity, and enjoys both clinical oversight and team development.
What You'll Do- Support the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, and supervising nursing operations and staff
- Help implement nursing policies, procedures, and care standards that promote safe, consistent, and resident-centered care
- Assist with recruiting, onboarding, training, and mentoring licensed and non-licensed nursing staff
- Participate in employee evaluations, coaching, and performance improvement initiatives
- Serve as a leadership back-up for the DON and provide guidance to RN and LPN staff
- Step in to provide direct resident care when needed
- Oversee daily clinical operations, including rounds and monitoring resident conditions
- Advocate for resident safety, dignity, and respect at all times
- Act as a liaison between residents, families, physicians, and care teams
- Lead or attend staff meetings as needed
- Provide insights, reports, and recommendations to improve nursing services
- Help design and evaluate nursing systems that promote quality outcomes and resident rights
- Coordinate and support ongoing staff education and in-services
- Stay informed of regulatory changes and help ensure ongoing compliance
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding residents and employees
- Staff Development and training
- Infection prevention
- Assist with the overall supervision and management of nursing staff
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a positive work culture
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- RN license required
- 3-5 years of nursing management experience, preferably in long-term care
- Active license and good standing with the State Board of Nursing
- Current with all required continuing education and licensing requirements
- Certificate of infection Control preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret professional journals, regulations, and technical procedures
- Comfortable writing reports, policies, and professional correspondence
- Confident presenting information and responding to staff questions
- Solid problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; PCC experience preferred
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Regular use of computers and office equipment
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, reading, and communicating throughout the day
- Occasional travel may be required
- Work environment is typically moderate noise level
