Position: Weekend Receptionist 8am to 4pm

Receptionist

RATE: $17 per hour

Position:
Receptionist (Weekend, Saturday/Sunday 8am-4pm) at Alameda Center, a 250‑bed nursing facility in Perth Amboy. Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to multi‑task; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Receptionist is responsible for operation of the switchboard and paging system. The Receptionist answers all incoming calls, redirects them as needed, greets visitors and gives directions to residents and visitors, and supports clerical activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES /

ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Prepares timecards and distributes them to appropriate departments;
  • Collates medical charts;
  • Orders supplies in accordance with procedures and budget allocations;
  • Compiles reports and types general or technical material;
  • Maintains current lists of residents by name and room number, telephone numbers for all personnel, department extensions, key personnel and their extensions, physician kardex, and mail cards;
  • Coordinates outgoing and incoming mail for the facility;
  • Ensures that residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere recognizing individual needs and rights;
  • Performs other duties as requested.
  • SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL / VOCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
    • High school degree or equivalent with college/business school coursework preferred.
    • Experience with medical terminology is preferred.
    • Must read, write, and understand English. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
    JOB SKILLS
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to handle a variety of assignments of moderate complexity, requiring familiarity with facility operations.
    • Ability to interpret and apply departmental procedures.
    • Maintain a well‑groomed, professional image and demonstrate courtesy and tact.
    • Operate a typewriter and/or computer.
    • Show discretion when handling confidential information.
    • Maintain a pleasant and professional phone manner.
    • Interact positively with personnel, residents, families, visitors, and government agencies.
    • Possess well‑developed verbal and written communication skills.
    • Work independently, solve problems, and make decisions as necessary.
    • Provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
    PERFORMS RELATED DUTIES
  • Interacts with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
  • Carries out other tasks as requested, including hands‑on intervention or participation when required.
