Registered Nurse – Maternal Child Health/Delivery Room (Part‑time)

As a Registered Nurse in our Maternal Child Health and Delivery Room unit, you will provide direct patient care to mothers and newborns while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to achieve the best outcomes.

• Collect comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health.
• Perform age‑ and disease‑specific assessments independently, focusing on physiologic, psychological and cognitive status.
• Recognize clinical and diagnostic status changes in patients.
• Identify variables in patient/family education needs based on age, disease, and cultural differences.
• Develop and coordinate a patient/family‑centered plan of care, including goals and interventions.
• Communicate, coordinate, and implement the plan of care with nursing colleagues and the broader health‑care team.
• Provide ongoing communication with patient/family and staff regarding status and treatment plans.
• Implement care in an organized and timely manner, following established protocols.
• Document assessments, plan‑of‑care, interventions and evaluations continuously using point‑of‑care electronic systems.
• Administer medications safely, utilizing bar‑scanning technology.
• Support multi‑disciplinary discharge planning to ensure safe transition of care.
• Evaluate progress toward outcome attainment and adjust interventions as needed.
• Apply critical‑thinking skills to achieve desired patient outcomes.
• Initiate interventions when patient conditions change or unexpected responses occur.

• Identify and address ethical issues in the practice setting.
• Recognize and respond to opportunities to enhance patient satisfaction.
• Maintain required competencies, certifications, and continuing education.
• Adhere to the American Nurses Association code and Hackensack Meridian Health's organizational competencies.
• Physically lift at least 35 lbs., push/pull at least 10 lbs., and stand for up to 6 hours a day.

• BSN in progress or ability to complete within three (3) years of hire (for hires on or after November 2019).
• At least six (6) months of relevant nursing experience or active participation in Hackensack Meridian Health’s Nurse Residency Program.
• Strong learning ability, accountability, teamwork, dedication to ongoing education, and a passion for delivering high‑quality care.

• National certification in the area of specialty.

• NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License.
• AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification within 60 days of entering position.

Minimum hourly rate of $45.73. Compensation may vary based on market data, experience, education, and other factors.
