Description
As the Operations Supervisor for our on-campus transportation for a large University contract operations, you will be responsible for overseeing daily bus operations to ensure safe, efficient, and uninterrupted service. You will provide supervision and guidance to operators and dispatchers while enforcing strict compliance with company policies and DOT/FMCSA regulations. (Pay starting from $60,000 based on experience)
The position will start at the Newark campus; however, the position will be primarily based on the main campus in New Brunswick.
Must be flexible with work schedule as hours can vary.
Must be able to travel between Newark, New Brunswick and Camden campuses as needed.
Responsibilities- Supervise bus operations to support the overall safety and efficiency of service while providing exceptional customer service.
- Provide direct supervision, guidance, and support to bus operators and dispatch personnel.
- Coordinate operational resources and execute action items to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. Monitor and manage service issues.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, DOT/FMCSA Hours of Service (HOS) regulations, and company safety standards.
- Monitor and verify operator compliance ensuring accurate tracking.
- Review, audit, and verify operational documentation.
- Ensure buses are inspected, safe, clean, and service‑ready.
- Coordinate with Maintenance, Dispatch, and Management to resolve service disruptions and vehicle availability issues.
- Address customer service concerns, operator conduct issues, and service complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with investigations related to incidents, complaints, accidents, and service failures, documenting findings as required.
- Participate in operational improvement initiatives, safety programs, and compliance audits as directed by management.
- Ability to manage operations in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent internal and external customer service skills.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and basic reporting tools.
- Comfortable working with transportation technology systems including scheduling, dispatch, and HOS platforms.
- Ability to enforce policies consistently and professionally.
- Previous experience in transportation operations is required.
- Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and OSHA regulations required.
- Bachelor's degree in Operations, Transportation, Logistics, or related field preferred but not required.
