Job Summary
The Dispatch Supervisor serves as a leader and provides guidance to delivery teams and independent contractors. Responsible for directing daily activities of the delivery teams and independent contractors including labor, scheduling, and supervision of day-to-day operations. Oversees and guides dispatchers following set standards and quality guidelines for deliveries. Assists and provides guidance for different dispatch duties as needed.
Key Responsibilities- Works alongside Customer Service and the Final Mile Manager to ensure customer satisfaction and on-time deliveries
- Keeps all parties informed of scheduling or delivery issues, identifying and implementing solutions
- Assigns drivers and vehicles to load trucks for assigned destinations
- Oversees delivery teams and independent contractors of proper actions regarding customer, logistics or other problems that could affect scheduled deliveries
- Monitors exceptions not limited to late departures or arrivals, breakdowns, in-home service time, NAH, go backs, accidents, product or in-home damages, delivery team illness or injury, HOS, unplanned billing, trends
- Tracks driver assignments and other shipping data in a computer database
- Organizes and files Proof of Deliveries (PODs) and driver's documentation as needed
- Sends Proof of Delivery (POD) cover sheets to finance department to review driver manifests
- Monitors inbound/outbound emails as well as attached Proof of Deliveries (PODs)
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- 1-3 years relevant logistics/dispatch experience collectively considered
- Previous knowledge of relevant policies, practices and procedures and requirements/standards
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, contractors, supervisors and the public requiring courtesy, discretion and independent judgment
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and reporting skills
- Knowledge of MS Office and other operational or client systems
- Ability to safeguard customers' personal information
- Detail-oriented, analytical problem-solver and ability to multi-task in a demanding environment, high-pressure, high-volume environment
