Are you passionate about making a difference to the lives of children? An exciting opportunity is available for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as part of our highly experienced Nursery team in the Refuge. We are aiming to recruit a motivated person, with a desire to support vulnerable families in an early year setting. The post is based within the OFSTED Registered Nursery setting and you support the wider team in working with other children in the Refuge.

Nursery Practitioner Level 3

Job Type: Permanent

Hours of work: 17.5 hours per week (the majority of the sessions are in the morning)

Hourly Rate: £12.80 per hour

Purpose of the role

The Nursery Practitioner will work under the direction and supervision of the Nursery Lead, Refuge Team Leader and, at times, unsupervised, providing the continuity of services. The work will be based within the Early Years setting in our Refuge. The Nursery Practitioner will be responsible for the general organisation, planning and running of the sessions, providing quality experiences that are responsive to the needs of children and their families, in line with EYFS and OFSTED requirements.

This role is predominantly Nursery based and availability in the morning is essential. There will be opportunity to support the Children’s Team with youth club once a week to further develop new skills.

  • Have an open and welcoming manner and good communication skills with both adults and children.
  • A good understanding of child development and the ability to identify environmental risks and impact.
  • A good understanding and experience of safeguarding children and a commitment to follow procedure.
