Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Peru, IL

Contract | Night Shift (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM) | 12-Hour Shifts | Every Other Weekend Required | Holiday Rotation Required

• Provide direct nursing care for medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical cases, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness on a unit with up to 22 beds
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5–6 on nights, with oversight and collaboration with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) to ensure completion of cares including Foley care, CHG bathing, and oral care
• Conduct three-times-daily touchpoints with PCTs focused on nursing care tasks and patient plan of care
• Monitor telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes virtual central telemetry monitoring with Philips monitors
• Manage patients on high-flow oxygen and stable home-regimen BiPAP as needed
• Float as needed to the ICU for general acute overflow patients or to a campus approximately 25 miles away with a minimum of 2 hours advance notice

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free workplace policy
• Ability to work night shifts, every-other-weekend rotation, and holiday rotation

• Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical RN experience
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• PALS certification preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with PCT staff

• Work in a structured, well-supported med-surg environment with charge nurse coverage, an administrative supervisor on every shift, and virtual central telemetry monitoring
• Benefit from a clearly defined call-off policy providing the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty
