Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Peru, IL

Contract | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift | 12-hour shifts, 0700–1930; every other weekend required; holiday rotation required

• Provide direct nursing care for medical-surgical patients with diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical cases, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5 on day shift, collaborating closely with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) through structured daily touchpoints
• Oversee and collaborate with PCTs to ensure completion of essential cares including Foley care, CHG bathing, and oral care; incorporate plan of care discussions into each touchpoint
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips independently, supported by virtual central telemetry monitoring using Philips equipment
• Manage high-flow oxygen and stable home-regimen BiPAP patients; titration of drips is not required
• Float as needed to the ICU for general acute overflow patients or to a campus approximately 25 miles away to meet staffing needs, with at least 2 hours advance notice for off-site float assignments

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free campus policy
• Ability to work 12-hour day shifts with every-other-weekend and holiday rotation commitments
• Solid-color scrubs (no prints) per dress code policy

• Minimum of 2 years of medical-surgical RN experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Current PALS certification preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly in PCT collaboration and patient care coordination

• Work in a structured, well-supported med-surg environment with charge nurse coverage, an administrative supervisor on every shift, and virtual central telemetry monitoring
• Benefit from a defined call-off policy providing the equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks with no penalty
