Field/Service Technician, Installation Technician, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
Job Summary
Responsible for broadband installation and troubleshooting activities for voice, video, and data services. Works in an entry-level position with increasing proficiency and decreasing supervision. Complete field assessments, meet company standards, and acquire necessary certifications for continued employment.
Compensation and BenefitsBase pay: $20.00 per hour plus quarterly bonuses and paid training. Comprehensive benefits effective from day one, including health, dental, vision, highly discounted cable services, paid time off, and eight company-observed holidays.
Core Responsibilities- Perform installations and changes of service while adhering to company procedures and safe work practices.
- Complete all customer interactions as required.
- Perform service calls and troubleshoot the drop from tap to customer equipment.
- Assess and design basic home networks using coaxial cable, Ethernet, Wi‑Fi, and MoCA based on customer needs.
- Complete associated record‑keeping promptly to ensure all work is accurately documented.
- Determine service acceptability by reviewing test results, adjusting or fixing service as needed.
- Determine appropriate placement of Wi‑Fi devices, design the network, and provide advanced customer education.
- Maintain vehicle and equipment, report needed repairs, and reconcile issued customer premises equipment (CPE).
- Properly operate installation tools, technology, and equipment, including hand tools, power tools, meters, and ladders.
- Navigate digital tools such as work‑order management and diagnostics.
- Obtain and maintain required licensing and background checks as applicable.
- Perform work from high places, including climbing poles, working with ladders and bucket trucks, and carrying loads up to 70 lbs.
- Work in confined spaces, near power lines, and various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
- Drive company vehicle safely and maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Communicate effectively with customers and co‑workers, using vision, hand‑tool dexterity, and focus.
- Complete required training and pass certification tests within the specified timeframe.
- Work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and overtime, while meeting performance metrics and attendance expectations.
