THE ROLEAs a Senior Salesforce Commerce Cloud Engineer, you own the hands‑on delivery of SFCC implementations—translating architectural and design direction into production‑grade storefront code, integrations, and platform configuration. You bring deep technical craft to every workstream you touch, and you actively contribute to the quality and consistency of the broader engineering team.
RESPONSIBILITIES- SFCC Delivery Ownership:
Own the "how" of the Commerce Cloud build—SFRA architecture, cartridge structure, controllers, templates (ISML), pipelines, and Business Manager configuration—from detailed technical design through deployment and into production support. - Platform‑Level Design:
Guardian of the storefront's technical architecture, documenting decisions on cartridge layering, custom site preferences, data extensions, and integration surface to keep the solution coherent as it evolves. - Engineering Rigor & Quality:
Enforce production‑grade SFCC standards—accessibility, performance, SEO hygiene, mobile‑first rendering, and thorough unit and integration testing. Write code that survives in production and is maintainable by others. - Integration
Contract:
Define and protect API/data contracts between SFCC and third‑party services—payments, search/merchandising, inventory, BNPL, CMS, reviews, and others depending on the client. Coordinate non‑SFCC layers, ensuring changes remain backward‑compatible and well‑documented. - Proactive
Risk Management:
Surface dependencies, scope creep, and technical debt before they block delivery—especially coupling between cartridge customizations, service integrations, and data model decisions—and bring solutions, not just problems. - Communication & Alignment:
Translate SFCC platform constraints (cartridge limits, quota limits, deployment realities) into plain language for non‑technical PMs and client stakeholders, keeping engineering, PM, and design aligned on decisions and status.
- Proven Salesforce Commerce Cloud Experience
Significant track record delivering complex SFCC projects and supporting them in production. - Deep SFCC Platform Expertise (hands‑on)
- SFRA architecture: cartridge layering, controllers, ISML templates, models, and client‑side scripts.
- Business Manager: catalog/product management, promotions, site preferences, data extensions, and custom objects.
- SFCC scripting: dw.system, dw.catalog, dw.order, dw.web and service framework usage.
- Storefront pipelines and quota‑aware design (CPU time, script file size, API call quotas).
- Deployment & ALM: code version management, cartridge upload pipelines, sandbox/staging/production promotion strategies.
- Integration surface: SFCC Service Framework and OCAPI (Shop API and Data API).
- Integration & Commerce Stack Awareness
Sufficient fluency across the commerce stack—payments (e.g., Adyen, Stripe), search/merchandising (e.g., Algolia, Salesforce Predictive Sort), inventory, BNPL, and CMS/review integrations—to own contracts and reason about end‑to‑end flows. - Multi‑Workstream & Multi‑Party Delivery
Comfortable running structured build work and live operational/support contexts in parallel. At ease working within delivery models involving agency, client, and external dev/design partners. - Communication
Fluent English (written and verbal). Ability to explain technical tradeoffs to a non‑technical PM as clearly as discussing architecture with another engineer.
- Salesforce B2C Commerce Developer certification (or B2C Architect track).
- Familiarity with headless/SCAPI…
