Dietary Manager to join our TEAM!!!

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Dietitian in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Dietary Department. This must be done in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing our facility, and as directed by the Administrator. The goal is to ensure that quality nutritional services are provided daily and that the dietary department is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

A. Role Responsibilities – Job Knowledge/Duties:
  • Coordinate dietary services and activities with related departments (e.g., Nursing, Housekeeping, Social Services).
  • Assist in developing departmental policies, procedures, equipment, and supply management.
  • Assist in assessing the dietary needs of each resident.
  • Help develop dietary care plans that identify problems, needs, and goals for residents.
  • Assist in scheduling care plan discussions at committee meetings.
  • Ensure dietary staff are aware of and use care plans in daily services.
  • Identify any special equipment or utensils required for residents.
  • Review and revise care plans quarterly as needed.
  • Provide substitute foods of similar nutritive value for residents who refuse served foods.
  • Be competent in using and maintaining kitchen equipment (e.g., Blender, Meat Slicer, Steam Table, Refrigerator/Freezers, etc.).
  • Inspect storage and utility areas for upkeep and supply control.
  • Process diet changes and new diets from nursing services.
  • Identify and classify dietary tasks involving potential exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Plan dietary services as part of residents’ discharge plans.
  • Participate in facility inspections by government agencies.
  • Interview residents or family members for diet history when necessary.
  • Develop methods to determine food quality and quantity.
  • Ensure dietary progress notes are descriptive and informative.
  • Maintain menus according to policies and procedures.
