POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for promoting a person‑centered recovery approach toward independence and integration utilizing the nursing process for all clients of the Center. The role works closely with a Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) under nursing supervision and performs duties related to a Medication Clinic/Primary Care Clinic.

Position Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate the ability to accurately assess and document a client’s medical status, including vital signs, height, weight, BMI, and suicidal ideation reporting any concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Administer injections.
  • Deliver medications and other medical treatment as directed by physicians’ orders.
  • Ensure clients have completed assessment tools.
  • Document timely and accurately according to Center policies and treatment plans.
  • Record delivery of all directed medications and treatments per policy.
  • Provide referral source information as needed.
  • Request and obtain documentation from other facilities.
  • Work with insurance companies to provide required information and complete insurance documentation.
  • Prepare for clinic by determining routine lab needs per Center medication protocol.
  • Demonstrate understanding of basic infection control issues and preventative measures.
  • Answer basic questions about medication protocols and policies.
  • Schedule appointments and assist clients in obtaining appointments.
  • Complete referral paperwork as needed.
  • Obtain requested information from other physicians and agencies.
  • Obtain client consents for releasing information.
  • Teach common activities of daily living as needed.
  • Provide education to groups and individualized education to clients and families.
  • Provide emergency services as needed by phone or face‑to‑face.
  • If located in the ACU, demonstrate competency in the use of restraints and seclusion.
  • Maintain positive working relations and rapport with served communities.
  • Set up exam rooms for procedures and assist LIP with patient examinations.
  • Record medical histories past, present and personal information.
  • Draw labs and perform point‑of‑care testing.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a Medical Assisting Program with certification required.
  • Background checks: pre‑employment drug screen and comprehensive background checks including criminal and child protective services checks.
  • Ability to work well under supervision and independently.
  • Proficiency in the use of medical equipment and terminology.
  • Strong organizational and detail‑oriented skills.
  • Ability to utilize databases and electronic means to perform duties.
  • Excellent communication skills, internal and external.
  • Understanding of current mental health methods and therapeutic nursing environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Current CPR, CPI, TB, and CANS/ANSA certifications or ability to obtain within required time frames.
  • Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant; certification must be current.
  • Preferred but not required experience in medication or primary care clinic settings.
