PositionEntry-Level Restoration Engineer (0-3 years experience)
Location:
Bay Area; requires hybrid work 2-3 days a week at San Francisco, Oakland, or Petaluma office, with travel to other ESA offices.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related field and EIT certification or ability to obtain within one year.
- Education, training, or work experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, including surfaces, alignments, profiles, sections, and annotations.
- Desirable experience: hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software; GIS such as ArcGIS; preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates; river and wetland sciences (hydrology, geomorphology, ecology).
- Capable problem solver who works independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Effective communicator with excellent oral and written skills, able to convey technical information clearly.
- Collaborative team member who uses communication tools for in-person and remote teamwork.
Support design, analysis, engineering, and drafting for creek, river, floodplain, and wetland restoration projects—including nature-based solutions, climate-resilience, flood-risk management, and other water and civil engineering projects under the supervision of a senior engineer or hydrologist. Thrive in a fast-paced environment, balance multiple responsibilities and deadlines, and solve problems from simple to complex with appropriate resources and support.
