Job Summary
The Systems Engineer II works with our Design team to develop a variety of innovative unmanned systems for defense and commercial applications. This position will interact with Controls Engineers to allocate requirements and develop architectures that drive simulation models.
Responsibilities- Providing weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down
- Allocating requirements to subsystems and engineering coordination
- Evaluating system performance thresholds and providing direction
- Developing instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition
- Defining system build‑in‑test for fault detection, isolation, and recovery
- Defining ground system warnings, cautions, and notifications
- Assisting in requirements and specification reviews
- Prototyping autonomous systems and validating designs through purpose‑designed experiments
- Supporting design and analysis tasks using Aero Vironment and industry‑developed tools
- Providing input for model development and simulation analysis
- Writing system requirements, system test plans, and assisting in validation testing
- Performing a variety of engineering support activities on R&D projects
- Documenting work and assisting with the transition of new capabilities, technologies, and prototypes into a production development environment
- Working on problems of moderate scope where analysis requires a review of intangibles
- Applying company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues
- Working within specific requirements to complete tasks under moderate supervision
- Providing general guidance and assistance to associate and level I engineers
- Other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- 2–5 years of experience in a systems engineering role (aerospace systems engineering preferred)
- Familiarity with C/C++ and Matlab
- Familiarity with office software and computer‑based productivity tools
- Interest in creating architectures using model‑based engineering tools
- Knowledge of Simulink, Ansys, and Solid Works (preferred)
- Familiarity with Python or ROS (Robot Operating System) and aircraft terminology (preferred)
- Understanding of control theory and transform functions (helpful)
- Aerospace systems engineering experience (preferred)
- Exposure to guidance, navigation, and control systems along with modeling, simulation, and control in a model‑based systems engineering environment (helpful)
- Ability to develop and enhance professional expertise
- Capability to excel in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment with small teams sharing broad duties
- Strong initiative and drive to accomplish goals and meet company objectives
- Ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
- Commitment to learning from mistakes and improving performance of oneself, others, and the company
- Effective problem‑solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills

Ability to work in an office and manufacturing environment (constant). Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (frequent).
Salary$79,037 – $120,531
