Therapeutic Mentor (Part-Time) — Autism, Mental Health & Young Adult Support Bridge The Gap Services | Petaluma, CA Area + Throughout California We are actively seeking therapeutic mentors near Petaluma, CA, as well as qualified candidates throughout California.
Bridge The Gap Services provides therapeutic mentoring, case management, and family support for teens, young adults, and adults in navigating mental health challenges, substance use recovery, autism spectrum needs, and major life transitions. We partner closely with families, treatment providers, and professionals to help clients build the skills, structure, confidence, and independence they need to thrive.
Our work focuses on real-world support outside traditional therapy settings — helping clients integrate treatment goals into daily routines while supporting families with boundaries, communication, and self-care.

About the RoleWe are seeking compassionate, reliable, and motivated mentors with experience supporting individuals with autism, mental health challenges, addiction recovery, or life transition needs.
This role centers on relationship-based mentoring that complements clinical care and helps clients apply skills in everyday life — whether emotional regulation, executive functioning, social skills, independence, or recovery-focused lifestyle changes.
You’ll collaborate with families, therapists, psychiatrists, and other providers to ensure continuity of care and aligned support.
What We’re Looking ForThe ideal mentor:
- Has experience working with autism, mental health, addiction recovery, or young adult life transitions
- Is comfortable supporting teens, young adults, and adults in building life skills and confidence
- Communicates professionally with families and treatment teams
- Values collaboration and multidisciplinary care
- Is confident, grounded, and able to navigate strong personalities with professionalism
- Is open to feedback, growth, and ongoing collaboration
- Creates a supportive, non-judgmental environment that fosters sustainable change
Candidates must have one of the following (or be actively pursuing):
- Bachelor’s degree in a behavioral science field (Psychology, Social Work, Human Development, etc.)
- Master’s degree in a behavioral science field
- Drug & Alcohol Counselor certification or related credential
Relevant lived experience, mentorship experience, or specialized training may also be considered alongside formal education.
Schedule & StructureThis is a part-time, flexible role structured similarly to a private practice model:
- Mentors are matched with clients based on personality fit, experience, and availability
- You will begin once an appropriate client match is established
- Caseload builds gradually based on referrals and availability
- Meaningful, relationship-centered work
- Collaborative team approach with clinical coordination
