Job Title:
Ranch Hand
Are you seeking a rewarding job that allows you to work outdoors alongside a dedicated team? We are a privately owned ranch looking for hard-working, reliable individuals to care for 9 senior and retired horses. This position reports directly to the Ranch Manager and Lead Ranch Hands.
Important Note:
This role does not involve riding or training horses, and we do not offer room and board.
Position Type:
Full-time (5 days/40 hours per week)
Experience:
Entry-level; prior ranch experience is a plus but not required.
Compensation: $28/hour

Responsibilities:
Equine Care:
- Cleaning stalls in the barn, paddocks, arena, and pasture.
- Assisting in loading and unloading hay and various feed (lifting bales up to 120 lbs with assistance).
- Replenishing bedding/shavings as directed by supervisors and feeding horses according to a prescribed feeding schedule, ensuring troughs remain clean and full.
- Notifying the Ranch Manager or Lead Ranch Hand of any health or behavior changes or concerns.
- Cleaning and maintaining designated working spaces and organization of storage areas.
- Gardening tasks such as tree planting, fertilizing, seeding, weeding, brush cutting, and lawn mowing.
- General upkeep of the ranch, including cleaning of buildings and surrounding areas.
- Loading and unloading supplies.
- Complying with all methods of communication, including logbooks, project management software, whiteboards, emails, and animal file notes.
- Team-oriented attitude with the ability to work under supervision and follow instructions.
- Valid, clean Driver's License.
- Passion for the outdoors and willingness to work in varying weather conditions, including cold, heat, and rain.
- Proactive approach to animal care and needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Reliable attendance with availability to work weekends or evenings as needed.
- Adherence to safety guidelines and legal requirements, including reporting any unsafe conditions.
- Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, walking, and standing on feet for 8-10 hours per day while performing job functions.
- Work is performed in a kennel/shelter/barn setting and outdoors.
- Exposure to disinfectant solutions and various weather conditions is expected.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs unassisted and 120lbs with assistance.
- Tetanus and rabies (pre-exposure) inoculations are recommended.
- Notify the Ranch Manager immediately of all employee injuries or illnesses.
