Position: Sr. Field Performance Technician

Overview

The Field Performance Technician is responsible for managing, scheduling, and completing all service and warranty related work. The role requires the ability to work both independently and as part of the Performance O&M team, interacting closely with customers, Branch Manager, Senior Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor, and the centralized scheduling Field Service Team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Organize, lead, and maintain the warranty and service schedule.
  • Work with the Electrical Foreman, Construction Supervisor, and Branch Manager to allocate labor resources to service and warranty projects as needed.
  • Assist with training and development for Field Service Technicians and Field Communications Technicians.
  • Lead regular meetings to align and train the local field service team on best practices.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new members of the field performance team.
  • Regularly exceed defined goals for field performance key performance indicators including but not limited to turnaround time, experience rating, and average dispatches completed.
  • Assist with additional tasks, including inspections and site audits, as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • 1–3 years of previous field construction or solar experience required.
  • PV design or PV electrical experience preferred.
  • High School diploma required.
License and Certification Requirements
  • Must maintain a clean driving record and pass a driving background check. Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred. Depending on state requirements, an Electrical Journeyman certification or license may be required.

  • Electrical/PV Installation Knowledge: working knowledge of current NEC codes; ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter; understanding of electrical principles related to solar interconnection/tie‑in and code, and knowledge of interconnection activities and basic construction principles.

    Adherence to company safety policies and procedures, identification and reporting of safety hazards, and encouragement of safe work practices.
  • Customer Service:
    Ability to establish rapport, build relationships and loyalty with external and internal customers, and remain tactful in communication.

    Proven ability to meet deadlines and key metrics, work independently and as a team player, drive results in a fast‑paced environment, and assist teammates to achieve company and department goals.
  • Problem Solving:
    Solid logical decision‑making and troubleshooting skills, ownership of issues, escalation to appropriate personnel, and follow‑up with customers. Ability to involve supervisors when needed.
Physical Demands
  • Transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance).
  • Work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces requiring frequent bending, twisting, squatting, climbing, kneeling, crawling, turning, standing, and balance.
  • Climb ladders.
  • Work outdoors in weather conditions including excessive noise, extreme heat or cold, wet environment, and humidity.
  • Use fine motor skills for hand functions such as manipulation, grasping, and pinching.
  • Operate within the safe range of equipment such as ladders, fall protection harnesses, and other personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain balance on roofs and other areas of height.
  • Work in the sun and possibly low light conditions.
  • Walk on rafters, roof tiles, and roof shingles without causing damage.
  • Distinguish colors such as red, black, yellow, white, and green.
  • Work in confined spaces such as attics, basements, and crawl spaces requiring kneeling and crouching.
  • Hear verbal commands and warnings.
  • Work with chemicals using appropriate protections.
