We are looking for a Finance Manager – Fuel for our Peterborough, Ontario site. The position is onsite in Peterborough, Ontario.
Position OverviewThe Finance Fuel Manager focuses on full‑cycle accounting for the Fuel division, measuring and monitoring the division's accounting performance including revenue recognition, cost‑center variances and cash flow position.
Typical Responsibilities- Review and approve all Price Approval Requests (PARs) for various customer proposals for the Fuel division
- Review and understand customer agreements and contractual requirements
- Review and approve Project Bookings for accuracy as well as the correct Revenue Recognition method
- Coordinate accounting activities related to quarterly reviews for Fuel, which include contract profit statements, forecasts and billing information
- Review and approve journal entries for project accruals, account reclassifications, other project requirements and account reconciliations
- Review, approve and request the purchase of foreign‑exchange forwards by the BWXT Treasurer to reduce foreign‑currency risk
- Lead financial reviews and provide insights to enhance decision‑making and strategic planning for Fuel
- Assist operations with ACEs (Authorization for Capital Expenses)… analyze NPV and IRR
- Review and approve all capital expenditures (ACEs) related to the Fuel division
- Provide support and guidance to operations and other finance team members on financial protocols and ensure accounting transactions are recorded in compliance with GAAP
- Monitor and report on monthly financial performance for Fuel
- Work with Business Unit Leaders to optimize revenue and operating income in their segments to meet or exceed forecasted Operating Income
- Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures along with corporate governance requirements
- Implement standardized reporting tools and processes for financial performance across Fuel accounting, enabling real‑time visibility into budget adherence and variances
- Facilitate the resolution of any financial discrepancies identified in Fuel accounting and ensure timely corrective actions are taken
- Identify risk factors in financial operations and recommend solutions to mitigate potential impacts on company performance
- Oversee forecast for backlog and new business projects, including bookings, revenue, COGS, GP and cash flow for Fuel
- Assist operations personnel with cost‑center budgeting and reporting
- Meet with Director of Fuel to review the P&L forecast and complete a Risk and Opportunity report, comparing Year‑over‑Year forecast and actuals for review by CO President and Group Controller
- Prepare other variance reports that are reviewed with CO Group Controller, CO President and other managers
- Provide support and work with Sales and the Director of Fuel to complete NPG Strategic plan
- Provide information to internal and external auditors
- Accountable for maintaining an adequate system of internal control in areas of responsibility
- Ensure SOX and COSO requirements are being followed
- College or University Education majoring in business or accounting
- Accounting designation CPA (CA, CMA or CGA) or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
