Human Resources/Operations Manager
The Nogojiwanong Friendship Centre (NFC) is an Indigenous not-for-profit, culture and community-based organization mandated to serve the needs of urban Indigenous people in the City of Peterborough and surrounding area. The NFC is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Human Resource/Operations Manager (herein referred to as Manager).

ObjectiveToprovideefficient and effective management of NFC’shuman resources and daily operations,ensuring a safe and suitable environment,in compliance with applicable legislation.
Area of ResponsibilityThe Human Resources (HR)/Operations Managerwilloversee human resources managementandthemanagement ofthe
Centre’s property and its’ addition, will practice and role model cultural competency and cultural safety using a trauma-informedwholisticapproach within the broader community.
Human Resources
- Manage human resource needs, including recruitment (postings/job descriptions), hiring (interview questions), professional development and training;
- Facilitate the onboarding process fornew staff, ensuring a welcoming and complete integration ofnew staffinto the NFCteam
- Ensurenew staffare registered for the group benefits plan, arrange update sessions with Plan Advisors, circulatenewinformationand support staff when needed
- Manage personnel files, ensuring they are up-to-date andsecure;
- Consult with the management team on disciplinary matters and execute actions according to policy and procedures;
- Manage staffattendanceandreview staff timesheets;
- Coordinate andfacilitateannual performance reviews of program staff;
- Support staff to adhere to NFC’s policies and procedures;
- Make recommendations for updates to HR policies based on legislative change,andreview any change withthe
Executive
Director;
Operations
- Manage regular custodial services, ensuringfacilitiesare wellmaintainedandorganized;
- Oversee the maintenance and operation of the building’s alarm and security system, HVAC units,and kitchen fanensuringproperinspections and fire drills are scheduled and completed;
- Oversee the Braidwood Transitional Housing Program
- Manage the organization’s equipment and communication needs and systems, including VOIP, internet, copiers,computersandvan;
- Maintain and update office equipment and furniture inventory;
- Manage maintenance services and contracts;
- Ensure kitchenis sufficiently equipped, and all equipment is properlymaintainedand in good working order;
- Ensure all meeting rooms aremaintainedandproperlyequippedto meetthe program and organization’sneeds;
- Manage maintenance services and contracts;
- Manage the Joint Health and Safety Committee and ensure monthly inspections are performed, reports are submitted, and any actionsrequiresareachieved;
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in human resources.
- Other combinations of education and experiencewillbe considered.
- Experience in operations management, including management of property, health and safety, proposal and grant writing;
- Knowledge of the Friendship Centre Movement and Indigenous culture;
- Working knowledge of current applicable legislation (ie. Employment Standards Act), practices, standards and policies;
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable car and be willing to travel as required;
- Indigenous heritage a preference ( Employment Preference Policy); and,
- A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer.
Salary: $ 56,100.00 - $75,900 annually (with a 6-month probation)
Benefits:
Health care spending account, 3 weeks paid vacation, 15 days of paid sick time.
Schedule:
8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday with evenings and weekends as needed
