Hegarty, one of the region’s leading law firms, are recruiting an enthusiastic and ambitious full‑time Legal Assistant to support our busy Litigation department in Peterborough.
Legal Assistants at Hegarty provide support to our fee earners and assist with proactively progressing matters.
Excellent organisational skills and a passion to develop a career in litigation are essential, as is the proactive desire to support with tasks to achieve team and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities- Preparation of first draft documents, including court documents and trial bundles for review by fee earners.
- Proofreading and correction of documents.
- Research and reporting.
- Deal with telephone enquiries on department‑related matters and provide routine advice where appropriate, referring any other queries to the fee earners within the department.
- Deal with routine correspondence as delegated by a fee earner within the department and reply to incoming correspondence as appropriate.
- Assist the fee earners within the department regarding the review of departmental files to ensure timely progress and chase up outstanding issues where appropriate.
- Seeking to qualify as a solicitor via the SQE route with either a law degree or a non‑law degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Law (PDGL).
- Great attention to detail, communication and client care skills.
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office products.
- The ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and ensure that challenging deadlines are met.
- Maintains a positive attitude, self‑motivated and enthusiastic.
- Seeks opportunities to develop and stretch oneself and is passionate about developing a career in the legal environment.
