BWXT Nuclear Energy Canada Inc. (BWXT NEC) is committed to excellence in every business initiative. With over 500 workers across locations in Peterborough, Toronto, and Arnprior, BWXT NEC supplies nuclear fuel and fuel channel components, services, equipment and parts for the CANDU® nuclear power industry. We are recruiting for a Portfolio Manager for our location in Peterborough, ON. BWXT NEC's Fuel Handling and Engineered Solutions group is involved in the design, manufacture, development, testing, parts supply, and service of on-power refueling, reactor maintenance, and nuclear medicine delivery tooling sold around the world.

We are the original designer of the automated systems that allow 24/7 on power refueling of CANDU reactors and aim to solve some of the Nuclear Industry’s most challenging problems. Today, BWXT’s equipment is being used in most of the nuclear power plants in Canada and is critical to delivering carbon free energy production and lifesaving medical isotopes.

This position is onsite in Peterborough, Ontario.

• Support the development of departmental plans, goals and objectives for the effective execution of project management practices within the business.
• Provide effective leadership through communicating expectations and instilling accountability.
• Provide leadership and direction for the execution of a portfolio of projects, ensuring adherence to budget, schedule, and quality metrics.
• Ensure effective resource allocation and task prioritization across the portfolio of projects.
• Facilitate the identification, communication, and mitigation of risks across the portfolio, ensuring proactive issue resolution.
• Ensure compliance with internal governance, industry standards, and contractual requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
• Act as the key point of escalation for project challenges.
• Act as the PM for a subset of projects within the customer portfolio.
• Support proposal development and review, including scope definition, estimate approval, and customer presentations.
• Drive continuous improvement in project management processes, tools, and best practices.
• Actively participate in resource planning, recruitment, onboarding, succession planning and performance management to ensure the availability of skilled personnel for project execution.
• Prepare and present portfolio performance data to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability.
• Provide strategic guidance to project teams, ensuring alignment with customer and organizational objectives.
• Support accounts receivable processes to ensure timely receipt of customer payments.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or other suitable field from an accredited university
• 10 years of related industry experience
• 7-10 years of project management experience in a project based organization
• Demonstrable understanding of project management fundamentals: scheduling, earned-value management, budget control, change management, risk management
• Demonstrable understanding of contract management
• Demonstrable capabilities in organizing, analyzing, and presenting large and diverse data sets
