Introduction & Key Role Objectives

WJ Groundwater is the leading construction dewatering and groundwater specialist in the UK with operations in Canada, the Middle East, Poland & the Philippines. We have specialized plant and equipment that allows us to install custom dewatering systems in various environments including from within tunnels and shafts and from the surface.

Yard operations are an essential part of our business and are pivotal in enabling WJ Canada’s ability to execute projects on time and on budget. The principal function of this role is to provide support to yard operations and perform general labour duties.

• Clean, disassemble and sort fittings.
• Load, unload, move material by hand or by using material handling equipment (i.e. skid steer, telehandler, forklift, etc.).
• Handle, count, sort, stack, pack, and unpack materials and assets as part of the material handling work.
• Clean and refurbish machinery, pumps, tanks, etc.
• Ensure work areas are kept clean and trash and recycle is properly disposed of as needed.
• Complete daily paperwork, logs and inspection sheets as required.
• Fabrication of assemblies as preparation for site work.
• Be responsible for own health and safety and that of colleagues, in accordance with current construction guidance and relevant legislation.

• A motivated and hardworking individual with good verbal communication skills is essential.
• Knowledge of warehousing, maintenance, construction or similar work in a similar environment is essential.
• The ability to work without supervision and independently solve problems.
• 1 year of plumbing, piping or similar experience.
• Knowledge of basic MS Excel functionalities is considered an asset.
• Experience and licensing for skid steer operation is an essential requirement.
• Experience with power tools.
• Experience working in a mechanic workshop is considered an asset.
• Experience with in a warehousing or logistics environment is considered an asset.

• Physical Demands:
  Frequent standing, walking on uneven surfaces, and lifting of items up to fifty pounds. Bending, crouching, reaching, climbing, and operating construction equipment are often required to complete tasks.
• Temperature Variability:
  The warehouse may not be climate-controlled, leading to exposure to extreme temperatures, especially during summer and winter months.
• Exposure to Elements:
  Regular exposure to various weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold. Work is often conducted outdoors in all seasons.
• Noise Level: Expect a moderate to high noise level due to machinery, equipment, and other warehouse activities. Hearing protection may be required for certain tasks.
• Safety Protocols:
  Adherence to all safety guidelines and protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots, is mandatory.
• Work Hours:
  
  Standard working hours are from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Occasional flexibility in working hours may be required.
