In this hands‑on position, you’ll support multiple sites by maintaining, repairing, and optimizing commercial refrigeration and HVAC systems that businesses depend on every day. This role sits within our Engineering & Technical Services team, where technical expertise meets problem‑solving and service excellence. You’ll work with a mix of preventive maintenance and responsive repair work, applying your technical knowledge to real‑world challenges while ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable standards.

What

You’ll Do
  • Install, repair, adjust, service and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning equipment, commercial refrigeration systems, calibrate instruments, gauges, and control components.
  • Inspect and conduct ongoing maintenance on building HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment and compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and work safety.
  • Troubleshoot difficult equipment failures and identify the best course of action for equipment modifications.
  • Have some knowledge of standard principles with limited practical experience in applying them.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Impact the quality of own work.
  • Work within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Exchange straightforward information, ask questions, and check for understanding.
  • Performs assigned day‑to‑day repairs, emergency, and preventive maintenance. Completes maintenance and repairs records as required.
  • Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks and maintain good inventory of parts in service vehicle. Utilizes CMMS to manage work orders and track completion.
  • Responsible for the preventative maintenance and corrective repairs of HVAC equipment, air handling units (AHUs), dehumidification units, heating, and cooling system (boiler, chiller, and cooling tower) and commercial refrigeration equipment or rack refrigeration system including refrigerated cooler and freezer, walk‑in coolers and freezers and self‑contained refrigerated units.
  • Oversees and inspects the work performed by third party vendors.
What You’ll Need
  • Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic – the individual must possess a Journeyman Certificate or Individuals holding a recognized trade credential from another Canadian province or territory (313A or Red Seal Endorsements) with 4‑5 years related experience.
  • CO₂ commercial refrigeration system experience an asset but not required as will train.
  • Gas Technician (G1), Gasfitter A (Class

    A)
  • ODP Certificate – Ozone Depletion Certificate
  • Valid driver's license. and completion of an apprenticeship required.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to use existing procedures to solve standard problems.
  • Experience with analyzing information and standard practices to make judgments.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary range being offered for the Commercial Refrigeration Technician is between $98,000–$108,000 annually. The compensation that is provided to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits:
