Job DescriptionCome and be a part of a team that is pushing the boundaries in automation systems development. NHBB is expanding its Automation team and looking for someone that is as driven and passionate about automation as we are. We are seeking a Senior Engineer of New Product Development to join our team at NH Ball Bearings. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, evaluating and recommending new processes and/or equipment.
This position is responsible for developing, assembling, and continuously improving automation. It requires a thorough understanding of automation programing and device interfacing within a manufacturing environment. A successful candidate is someone that can work independently as well as within teams, and possess the ability to work on a variety of projects simultaneously. The job activities are typical to a manufacturing company and involve regular interfacing with the manufacturing personnel and manufacturing environment.
This is a project engineering role where the candidate will own their projects from conception to implementation.
- Work with end-users to design and develop robotic or automated systems.
- Write and troubleshoot robotic code, vision systems and PLC programming.
- Build, test and install robotic systems.
- Develop documentation and train end-users on automation systems.
- Work with external vendors for sourcing components.
- Provide a high level of service and professionalism to our customers.
- Ensure that automated systems meet applicable safety and regulatory standard.
- Generate and outline project schedule to keep all stakeholders up-to-date.
- Knowledge in automation and machine design (programming robots, PLCs and Vision Systems).
- Experience programming robotic arms (Universal Robots and ABB preferred).
- Knowledge in device interfacing and component communication protocols.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and presentation skills including project planning and project update communication.
- Be a team player, results driven, and the ability to partner effectively with employees at all levels, and work within and lead cross-functional teams.
- Ability to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally (as required).
- Bachelors degree in a related field;
Masters preferred, and/or equivalent experience. - Minimum five (5) years of experience with machine design/automation systems.
- Solid computer skills including MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint - and Solid Works, Polyscope, and Robot Studio.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, grabbing, twisting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
- Must be able to physically lift up to 40lbs, when necessary.
