Position OverviewThe Certified Medical Assistant (Behavioral Health) provides clinical support procedures under the direct supervision of the Office Nurse or Physician. This description does not encompass all duties; the MA will be required to perform any additional tasks as directed.
The Medical Assistant must reflect professionalism through personal appearance and behavior, demonstrate emotional stability, handle stressful situations calmly, and provide patient-centered care with a caring nature. Discretion and confidentiality are essential in all matters relating to patients, colleagues, and office operations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform blood draws, injections, child immunizations, lab tests, and other procedures within MA certification scope.
- Assist physician with examinations, including taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration.
- Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms.
- Take and return patient phone calls as directed by the physician.
- Provide patient instructions as instructed by the physician.
- Requisition and maintain adequate supplies.
- Assist with medical record maintenance, including referral forms, lab slips, and other documentation.
- Support patients in moving to/from exam rooms and preparing for procedures.
- Assist with nursing procedures as directed by the physician.
- Assist in other areas as requested by Manager or Clinical Coordinator, operating within MA certification guidelines.
- Work as a flexible, collaborative member of the care team.
- Completion of at least 2 years in a formal Medical Assistant curriculum or equivalent specialized training.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting.
- Current and active Medical Assistant certification.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Professional demeanor, emotional stability, and strong interpersonal skills.
