Research Coordinator

Contracted to our Peterborough office with the flexibility for hybrid working.

Salary £16,200 – £18,000 (£27,000 – £30,000 FTE) depending on experience. Part Time: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE).

Kidney Research UK is the leading charity dedicated to funding research into the prevention, treatment and management of kidney disease. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and responsible research coordinator to join our dynamic Data Science and NURTuRE team.

This is a key role supporting the smooth and efficient operation of the NURTuRE biobank, helping to facilitate access to data and samples for kidney researchers and supporting the expansion of the biobank into new kidney diseases. The role will also contribute to strategic initiatives within our growing Data Science programme.

We are looking for a highly organised individual with excellent communication and coordination skills who enjoys working with a wide range of stakeholders, including researchers, clinicians, industry partners and funding applicants. The successful candidate will support meetings, committees and strategic research initiatives, while helping to ensure the effective day‑to‑day running of the programme.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing administrative support to the Data Science and NURTuRE team.
  • Coordinating internal and external meetings and committee activity.
  • Supporting the delivery of strategic research programmes and events.
  • Preparing reports, meeting papers and documentation to a high standard.
  • Maintaining accurate records and databases.
  • Supporting engagement with external stakeholders and collaborators.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Experience coordinating meetings and taking minutes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and managing multiple priorities.
  • A positive, flexible and collaborative approach.
  • An interest in medical research, healthcare or data science.
  • Understanding of medical or scientific terminology would be advantageous.

  • Flexible working:
    Flexible working hours with start and finish times around core hours of 9.30 – 4.30.
  • Annual leave:
    All full time employees start with paid bank holidays plus another 26 days holiday, increasing with every year of service to a maximum of 31. This is calculated on a pro‑rata basis for part time employees. Employees have the option to buy or sell up to one‑week annual leave, in a pre‑set window prior to the start of the holiday year.
  • Pension:
    The charity makes a generous contribution of 6% to a group pension plan. Employees will need to contribute a minimum of 2% to meet the current pension regulations. All employees are enrolled in the pension scheme as soon as they join the charity, regardless of their salary levels, whether they are on a permanent or fixed‑term contract.
  • Parental leave:
    We comply fully with all legislation regarding maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave.
  • Sick pay:
    Charity sickness benefit is available once an employee has worked with us for three months and equates to 2 weeks full pay, 2 weeks half pay in any rolling 52 week period. After one year’s service, this rises to 4 weeks full pay and 4 weeks half pay, and after two years to 8 weeks full pay and 8 weeks half pay.
