Full-time, Permanent. Mears is expanding its in-house kitchen installation work for Cross Keys Homes, a long-standing partner. The team focuses on transforming homes with high-quality kitchen refurbishments, teamwork, quality craftsmanship, and excellent customer service. As a Floor Layer on the Cross Keys Homes contract, you will install, repair, and maintain a variety of floor coverings within our properties. This includes vinyl, safety flooring, carpet tiles, laminate, and other flooring materials to a high standard. You will prepare subfloors, ensure accurate measurements, and deliver durable finishes that meet customer expectations and contract standards. The role requires attention to detail, health and safety discipline, and a commitment to outstanding customer service while working in tenants’ homes.

• Install and repair vinyl, safety flooring, carpet tiles, and laminate flooring.
• Measure and prepare floor areas accurately before installation.
• Remove existing floor coverings and dispose of waste materials safely.
• Prepare subfloors by levelling, screeding, and repairing surfaces as needed.
• Fit flooring materials in accordance with manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
• Carry out responsive repairs and planned maintenance in occupied and void properties.
• Ensure work is completed to agreed timescales and targets; maintain a clean, safe, and tidy work environment.
• Communicate professionally with residents, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Identify and report additional repairs or property defects encountered during works.
• Adhere to Health & Safety policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
• Use tools, equipment, and materials safely and efficiently.
• Complete job records, paperwork, and electronic reports accurately.
• Work collaboratively with other trades to minimise disruption to residents.
• Contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service and resident satisfaction.

• Proven experience in floor laying.
• Experience with the duties described above.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Basic understanding of health and safety practices.
• Full UK driving license.
• All roles require entitlement to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not offered.
• To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.
• Candidates are subject to Background, Identity & Security checks before commencement.
