Role DescriptionThe Plant Engineer role is a full‑time, on‑site position based in Peterborough. The Plant Engineer will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Day‑to‑day tasks include diagnosing faults, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, supporting plant operations, and coordinating with the hire and operations teams to minimize downtime. The role also involves maintaining accurate service records, adhering to health and safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement of maintenance processes.
The Plant Engineer will work closely with colleagues and supervisors to prioritise workloads and meet operational demands.
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Plant Engineering and Plant Maintenance, with the ability to manage servicing and repair of a range of construction equipment.
- Candidates should possess practical experience in Plant Operations, including safe use, setup, and performance monitoring of plant and machinery.
- Candidates should possess troubleshooting skills to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and implement effective solutions.
- Candidates should possess knowledge of Power Generation systems related to plant equipment, including basic controls and safety procedures.
- Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeship in mechanical, electrical, or plant engineering (e.g., NVQ or equivalent) are beneficial.
- Experience in construction plant, heavy equipment, or hire industry, along with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance, is preferred.
- Good communication skills, ability to read technical manuals and diagrams, and capability to work both independently and as part of a team are important.
- A valid driver’s license and flexibility to support operational requirements on‑site are advantageous.
