Maintenance Engineer (Multi‑Skilled) – Permanent Nights

Location:

Just North of Peterborough (commutable from Stamford, Spalding, Bourne, and Market Deeping)

Salary: £53,000 package

Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 22:00 - 06:00

Position:
Full‑time, Permanent

Are you an apprentice‑trained Maintenance Engineer looking for a stable, high‑paying night shift role? Do you thrive in an environment where your mechanical and electrical skills are equally valued?

What's in it for you?
  • Great Earning Potential: A competitive base salary of £47,000, boosted by a £6,000 night shift allowance to give you a £53,000 total package.
  • Excellent Shift Pattern:
Work Sunday night through to Thursday night (22:00 - 06:00). Enjoy your weekends fully standard, with your shift finishing Friday morning.
  • Stability: A permanent role within a secure, investment‑led production facility.
The Role

As our Night Maintenance Engineer, you will be the go‑to expert on shift, ensuring production downtime is kept to an absolute minimum. Your day‑to‑day will involve:

  • Carrying out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and responding swiftly to reactive breakdowns.
  • Diagnosing and fault‑finding on both electrical systems (PLCs, control panels, three‑phase motors) and mechanical machinery (conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes).
  • Contributing to continuous improvement projects to optimize machinery efficiency and safety.
  • Maintaining accurate shift logs and handovers.
What we are looking for
  • Qualifications:

You must be a time‑served, apprentice‑trained engineer (holding relevant NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualifications).
  • Skills Bias: A true multi‑skilled background with a 50/50 mechanical and electrical split. You should be equally comfortable wiring a motor as you are changing a bearing.
  • Experience:

Previous experience working within a fast‑paced manufacturing, FMCG, or automated production environment is highly desirable.
  • Attitude: A proactive fault‑finder who can work autonomously during the night shift and take ownership of the site.
