R&D Advanced Power Systems Technician

Working Hours:

37 hours per week (Day Shift)

We are seeking a hands-on R&D Technician to join an advanced powertrain division. In this role, you will work on cutting-edge projects including electric motor testing, hybrid powertrain development, and transmission development programmes. You will support build, strip, rebuild, and testing activities across a range of emerging technologies.

• Conduct hands-on mechanical and electrical build, strip, rebuild, diagnostic, and repair activities on prototype power systems.
• Run test bed software, carry out test plans, and support data logging/analysis under the guidance of lead engineers.
• Perform electrical safety and insulation checks using diagnostic and service tools.
• Identify, report, and help resolve technical or product quality issues.
• Maintain strict adherence to Health & Safety standards, standard work instructions, and safe workshop practices.

• Education/Training:
  Completed Modern Apprenticeship (Mechanical or Electrical discipline) or an equivalent technical qualification (e.g., BTEC / ONC / HNC).
• Experience:
  
  Minimum 2-3 years of post-apprenticeship, hands-on experience in a mechanical/electrical testing, workshop, or R&D environment.
• Technical
  
  Skills:
  
  Strong background in diagnostics, fault-finding, mechanical fitting, and reading technical drawings/wiring diagrams.
• Soft Skills:
  
  Problem-solving mindset, clear communication skills, high reliability, and the ability to work well independently and in a team.
• Requirements:
  Full clean UK driving licence and valid passport.
