Restorative Practices Facilitator

Salary Range: $46,224- $85,310 (Commensurate with experience) Supervisor:
Principal Job Classification:
Exempt Contract Length: 10-months (200 days)

The primary responsibility of the Restorative Practices Facilitator in the alternative to short term suspension program is to provide primary support to students who are placed in the program in lieu of short term out of school suspension, provide meaningful restorative and social emotional support, and ensure students complete school assignments and are engaged in the full days schedule, working towards proper preparation to return to their comprehensive school setting.

Their focus will be on supporting students experiencing behavior issues and needing restitution, restoration, reflection, and practice to help them to handle situations that may arise in the future.

Essential Job Functions

  • Lead the full schedule for the day including group sessions and personalize attention to support students who have experienced disciplinary infractions with their peers
  • Track student performance data and provide 1:1 support while students are in attendance
  • Coordinate schedule to rotate students to program staff for additional support and conversations
  • Mentor and act as a role model of appropriate behavior, attitude, ethics, and morals to encourage positive social change and promote a normative culture
  • Use facilitation skills to keep a safe space while assisting communication between the participants during the restorative practice process
  • Adhere to tight and meaningful schedule of events to maximize the support students need
  • Ensure students receive daily Social Emotional Learning curriculum integrated into their day and provide opportunities to recognize and practice skills learned in a safe space
  • Ensure students receive mediation with peers with whom conflict occurred in order to restore relationships and/or decorum upon return to the comprehensive setting
  • Incorporate college and career readiness activities and connections so to help students to continue to pursue short and long term personal goals
  • Provide leadership lessons and incorporate guest speakers to encourage and promote positive behaviors and outcomes for students
  • Collaborates with the program social worker, counselor, general education and special education teachers in order to ensure proper support provided for academic success

  • Ability to work through conflict with students
  • Ability to develop and implement short and long range goals
  • Ability to work under pressure and effectively diffuse crisis situations
  • Knowledge of restorative justice theory and practices
  • Knowledge of community resources and support services
  • Ability to guide and lead individuals in group settings and subprogram activities
  • Ability to apply seasoned interpersonal skills and facilitate group dynamics
  • Ability to communicate effectively

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

    High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma required.
  • Experience:

    Experience with individual and/or group therapy sessions, students with behavior issues providing research driven interventions and behavior modification strategies to support children, Training in restorative practices, de-escalation, and group facilitation. Related experience in dealing with problems of a diverse population in one or more of the following areas: schools, social agencies, law enforcement.
  • Certification and License: QMHP-C certification preferred, but not required

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Demonstrates ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 60 feet.( Height reached by bucket truck and single man lift) Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to operate equipment; see and read printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone;

ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; physical agility to lift 50 pounds; to bend, stoop and reach overhead.
