Academic Supports And School Culture Coordinator (School-Based)

Salary Range: $64,254-$100,930 Supervisor:

Exempt Contract Length: 11 months (220 days)

The School-Based Academic Supports & School Culture Coordinator position will focus on providing coaching and support to classroom based instructional staff and school-wide implementation and support of the Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS). This role will work collaboratively with school-based staff to promote student accountability, restorative relationships, and a strong school culture through proactive and responsive support. The coordinator will work to support the integration of school-wide culture and climate initiatives into daily classroom instruction and activities.

The Coordinator will serve as an academic support and school culture liaison between the school, community partners, and parents/guardians to ensure consistent communication about the school's efforts to support academics and improve the school culture.

Essential Functions

  • Develop, implement, and assess academic support programs to improve school culture, climate, and student academic and behavioral performance.
  • Design, establish, and manage school programs that provide meaningful student enrichment opportunities.
  • Facilitate the development and implementation support for the school-wide positive behavior, intervention and support system.
  • Design, oversee, and execute monthly school-based initiatives specifically tailored to enhance and support student and staff culture, climate and morale.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the school leadership team, school mental health team and community partners to ensure culture and climate initiatives are fully aligned with school and division goals.
  • Ensure all culture and climate initiatives support the priorities within the school division's 5 year strategic plan:
    Cultivating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment.
  • Enhance and support the implementation of the PCPS Student Code of Conduct and positive behavior incentive programs.
  • Provide training, coaching, and support for teachers in effective classroom management strategies and techniques including CHAMPS, Character Strong, etc.
  • Partner with staff to develop, maintain, and sustain school-wide recognition programs and assemblies for students, parents, and staff (e.g., Student of the Month, Staff Member of the Month).
  • Analyze and utilize school-wide data, including behavior, attendance, and climate surveys, to identify trends, evaluate the progress of initiatives, and create targeted intervention plans for student and staff support.
  • Collaborate with the Instructional Coach to support grade-level teams in supporting academic supports and culture and climate initiatives
  • Collect, disaggregate, and share appropriate data to support teachers in the implementation of Champs and PBIS and model classroom management lessons for teachers.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to support the school's data-driven decision-making processes.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and mandatory evening activities (e.g., performing arts, athletic events, or parent engagement nights) as required.
  • Collaborate and plan with school and division departments to support student academic and behavioral support needs.

  • Ability to remain calm, fair, and consistent when navigating challenging situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track data and manage documentation.
  • Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education:

    Bachelor's degree (Master's degree strongly preferred) in education, social sciences, or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience:

    5+ years of professional experience working in education or related fields.
  • A proven track record for creating and sustaining a classroom/school environment that promotes positive character education, developmentally appropriate behavior management techniques and high expectations with exemplary student achievement.
  • Experience as a PBIS coach with prior PBIS training along with the knowledge and skills to create, maintain and sustain a culture and climate of high expectations for all stakeholders preferred.
  • License and Certification:
    Collegiate Professional license, post graduate professional license as a School Social Worker or School Counselor preferred
