Job Summary
Under direction of the school principal, plan and provide instruction and skills training for students that focus on installation, operation, maintenance and/or repair of residential, commercial, and industrial electrical systems.
Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student.
Monitor and evaluate student outcomes that include skills competencies prescribed by the Virginia Department of Education.
Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff and community.
Develop, select and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students. Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

  • Ability to create a safe laboratory environment, following OSHA standards for safe practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to comply with federal, state, and local safety legal requirements, including VOSHA and EPA.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Administration.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in the appropriate subject area
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Demonstrated ability in decision making, problem analysis, conflict resolution, interpersonal relationships, and planning.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of scientific subject areas.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
