We have a new opening for a Full Time Teacher
-Private Day and Residential. The teacher participates as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team in provision on educational instruction to students. The Teacher will provide classroom instruction with attendant documentation for both the facility record and for each student’s school system. Operates under the guidelines of the program, regulatory agencies and the State Board of Education. In most instances, class size is 6-10 students of ages 5 to 12 (Children) or 13 to 18 (Adolescents), however the Teacher also has Homeroom responsibilities.

Position duties include Referral Development activities and contact with school systems. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

Virginia Provisional Teaching Certificate.
Current certification in Special Education and endorsement in Emotional Disabilities AND Specific Learning Disabilities OR endorsement in Special Education General Education Curriculum K-12 required.
Current certification in CPR, HWC and First Aid
Current certification in medication management (Dayschool only).

Education/Experience:

Minimum four year degree
Master’s degree preferred
Demonstrated teaching ability in an inpatient psychiatric setting
Demonstrated ability to work with adolescents 11 to 17 years of age

General Requirements:

Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services.
Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
