Overview

Advanta Staff is looking to hire a highly motivated and skilled Fiber Research and Development Engineer. The successful candidate will work in a state-of-the-art research and development laboratory, conducting experiments and analyzing data related to fiber technology. This is a hands-on position that requires an individual with excellent attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Pay: $65 - $75 Annual Salary based on experience

Schedule:

Monday – Friday 7:00am – 4:00pm. Potential OT if necessary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work in a cross functional team to develop new applications for existing materials
  • Support efforts to develop new materials
  • Compile raw trial data and generate reports suitable for presentation to project engineers, management, and outside customers
  • Analyze and improve existing processes using data-driven practices
  • Utilize knowledge of textile products, materials, production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards to drive change
  • Enhance current manufacturing methods using existing or new equipment to ensure repeatability and conformance to customer specifications. Utilize technology tools to create and update drawings and models supporting computer controlled cutting equipment and 3D printing
  • Evaluate equipment and processes for repeatability and make improvements as necessary
  • Develop processes for manufacturing products using Lean, Six Sigma, and/or statistics-based methods and principles for process excellence
  • Monitor and audit the performance of processes and equipment and make recommendations for continuous improvement to maximize process capability
  • Work with vendors and internal resources to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase and installation of equipment, materials or parts for new products
  • Investigate, recommend and justify new technologies, manufacturing methods and equipment to meet competitive business needs and improve efficiencies
  • Interact with Product Development to ensure manufacturability or minimize the risks associated with new products transferred for Commercialization
  • Create and revise documents such as Preventative Maintenance, Work Instructions and Internal Specifications for current manufacturing standards
  • Foster a high level of creativity and independence in the design and development of new or improved manufacturing processes, systems, prototypes and projects
Job Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related scientific field (e.g. polymer, materials science, chemical, textile engineering) or equivalent experience
  • Strong technical skills and experience in laboratory research and development, preferably related to fiber technology
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to analyze and interpret data
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities
Physical/Environmental Requirements

Lift up to 50 pounds. Climb, bend, twist, stand and reach repetitively and unassisted. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral and depth vision and ability to adjust focus. Operate moving equipment. Work in hot/cold/damp/cramped/dusty/noisy environments. Candidate may be required to pass a drug test and criminal background check based on job location/requirements.
