Technical Support Analyst (Audio-Visual Systems)

Location:

Petersburg, VA

Duration: 9+ months (Onsite)

Seeking for a Technical Support Analyst (Audio-Visual Systems) to provide operational and technical support for audiovisual and instructional technology systems across classrooms, conference rooms, meeting spaces, and university event venues. The successful candidate will maintain, troubleshoot, install, and operate AV equipment while providing responsive customer support to faculty, staff, students, guests, and event participants.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily operational and technical support for audiovisual and instructional technology systems.
  • Support AV technology in classrooms, conference rooms, meeting spaces, and university event venues.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues involving:
    • Projectors and displays
    • Monitors and presentation systems
    • Microphones and speakers
    • Cameras
    • AV control systems
    • Video conferencing platforms
    • Cables, adapters, and related connectivity
  • Install, configure, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain professional AV equipment.
  • Perform routine system testing, equipment inspections, and preventive maintenance to maximize system availability and support AV uptime goals.
  • Perform minor AV installations and equipment replacements, including projectors, monitors, cables, adapters, and similar components.
  • Provide technical support for live events, commencements, conferences, meetings, executive functions, and other university programs.
  • Coordinate with event organizers to identify and confirm technical requirements before scheduled events.
  • Monitor AV systems during events and respond quickly to technical issues.
  • Assist faculty, staff, students, and guests with classroom technology, presentation systems, conferencing platforms, and basic equipment operation.
  • Assist with AV installations, upgrades, departmental technology projects, and emergency operations.
  • Maintain professional customer service while responding to time-sensitive classroom and event technology issues.
  • Support departmental objectives for maintaining 95% or greater AV system uptime.
  • Work scheduled evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours when required for events.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Audiovisual Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting professional or enterprise audiovisual systems.
  • 2+ years of experience troubleshooting, installing, operating, and maintaining AV equipment.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting live events, meetings, classroom technology, or similar environments.
  • Experience supporting projectors, displays, microphones, speakers, cameras, presentation equipment, and related AV technologies.
  • Experience using a help desk or ticket management system.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform work involving standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing ladders.
  • Availability to work scheduled evenings, weekends, holidays, and other non-standard hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Audiovisual Technology, or a related discipline.
  • 2–4 years of professional audiovisual support experience.
  • Experience supporting AV and instructional technology within a college, university, or higher-education environment.
  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) certification.
  • Manufacturer certifications or hands-on experience with:
    • Crestron
    • Extron
    • Q-SYS
    • Biamp
    • Similar enterprise AV platforms
