Maintenance Manager

Trillium Staffing is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead a maintenance shop supporting fleet vehicles, heavy equipment, and container operations. This role oversees technicians, manages preventive and corrective maintenance, ensures regulatory compliance, and applies advanced technical expertise to complex equipment and fleet issues.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Supervising and leading a team of maintenance technicians and mechanics.

• Planning, scheduling, and overseeing preventive maintenance and repairs for fleet vehicles, containers, and heavy-duty equipment.

• Providing technical leadership on complex diagnostics and repairs involving diesel and alternative fuel trucks and heavy equipment.

• Ensuring all maintenance and repairs comply with company safety standards and federal and state regulations (DOT, OSHA, etc.).

• Monitoring shop performance and productivity; identifying and implementing process improvements.

• Conducting daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and quality control inspections to verify repair accuracy and safety compliance.

• Coaching, training, and evaluating technicians; supporting hiring decisions, corrective action, and performance management.

• Assisting with road testing and inspection of vehicles to diagnose advanced mechanical issues.

• Managing shop inventory, parts purchasing, and maintenance-related expenses within budget.

• Maintaining accurate maintenance records, inspections, and administrative documentation using maintenance management software.

• Preparing budgets, setting departmental goals, and reporting operational performance to management.

• Other duties as assigned.

The Maintenance Manager is a 1st shift position, Monday through Friday, 6am - 5pm. The salary ranges from $115,000 - $125,000 and a competitive benefits package is offered. This position is full-time and direct hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• ASE certification or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.

• Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience working with heavy equipment or fleet vehicles.

• At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience.

• Advanced knowledge of engine, emissions, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.

• Ability to diagnose and support complex repairs involving chassis, body control, HVAC, and welding on heavy equipment.

• Strong understanding of DOT, OSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations.

• Solid waste industry experience preferred.

• Ability to lift up to 50-100 lbs and work in an outdoor environment.
